When the official portraits of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama captivated the world when they were unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery in 2018. Now they’ve inspired a cross-country tour. Picturing the Obamas traces their path, featuring artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald, museum creators along the route, and the people finding hope in these works of art.
